As much as I'd love to say I am a natural morning person who's up at 5am before work ready for my morning yoga session I am not. I am an it's time to go and I'm still in my pjs with one eyebrow drawn on kinda girl and now that I've started working full time again I can no longer do that.
So here's 9 things I do in the morning to trick my body into thinking I am a morning person.
1. Routine is vital for me. I find if I have a routine for the order I do things in the mornings, I seem to stick to it and I know exactly how long it takes me to get ready. I find a routine becomes so natural to you after a few times and before you know it you forget you even have one!

2. Drinking fluids, this might sound silly but a good glass of water in the morning can really start off your day. I don't drink nearly enough water and I can't count the amount of times I have woken up with a headache especially with the warmer months. If you're not a coffee drinker, tea is always a great way to get something into your stomach and if water is too boring put some fruit in a bottle before bed and leave it in the fridge and in the morning you have an extremely yummy start to your day waiting for you.
3. Eating a substantial breakfast. Eating breakfast for me has never been on my to do list. I am just never hungry in the mornings but ever since working full time a good breakfast is a necessity to set you up until lunch. Otherwise come 10am when you've been up since 6 your stomach will be angry with you and you will be counting the minutes until lunch. Plus a good breakfast improves concentration!
4. Keeping your environment tidy. This is a big one that I struggle with because when I am getting ready and running late I seem to get angry with the clothes that don't look good and throw them around my room. At least that is what it looks like when I am finally ready. I find when my environments clean everything else just flows a bit more smoother (Including finding things).

5. Get your beauty sleep. Getting a good night sleep is absolutely a must, if you don't get enough sleep one night you might not feel it the next day but it will catch up with you and when you're up so early everyday it's hard to catch back up with your sleep. If you're already a perfect morning person who has 5 hours sleep and can wake up looking like Beyoncé then this point isn't for you. For the majority of us though a good nights rest can be vital.
6. Choosing your outfit the night before. If you work a lot or full time like me you will know trying to choose an outfit every morning can be the real struggle. Not to mention that's where most of my mess comes from. I have found choosing my outfit the night before saves me so much time and a lot of mess.
7. Plan your food ahead. I find that trying to eat healthy in a rush never happens for
me. If I'm in a rush and don't have time to make myself something I find
myself in Zambrero's ordering a burrito for lunch. (Not that there's ever anything wrong with burrito's, breakfast,
lunch and dinner), but I do really find that if I make
myself something the night before and have it in the fridge ready for the
next day I save a lot of time. It saves
me a burrito and keeps my bank account looking that little bit
healthier.
8. Having my hair done the night before. I don't know if you're like me but my hair takes forever to do in the mornings, but I always look so much more alive and awake if I put some effort into it. If anyone is like me and not blessed with perfect after shower hair I
suggest you help your hair out a little bit the night before. It saves me at
least half an hour.
9. Smile. It's a simple thing that isn't done enough, I can guarantee if you smile
something great will come out of your day.
Lots of Love,
yah... i havta wake up at 5:30 AM. thankfully though, i am a morning person, and i find that the things you suggested truly do get me going. i always drink a glass of water first thing, i plan my outfit, down to my socks no joke the night before, plus i pack my lunch and get the ingredients for my breakfast smoothie ready in the fridge for easy access. all in all, you got it right on the dot.

DeleteLove this post because it is so relevant to me. Even after working full time for the last two and a half years I just can't get used to the early mornings, every single day is a struggle. Definitely agree that a good night sleep and liquids and being prepared the night before, do help.
ReplyDeleteI love finding posts that are relevant to me! Honestly I don't think I'll ever be a before 7am kinda girl x
Delete"Tricking yourself" just made me laugh so much, it's definitely what I've learnt to do. A good breakfast, planning outfits and washing my hair the night before definitely helps me too!

I don't think I'll ever be an extremely good morning person so 'tricking' myself is definitely the way to go!
DeleteSome great tips here, I agree with preparing your outfit the night before though I don't do that as often as I should!

I didn't follow my own tip and this morning I didn't know what to wear and there's about 6 options on the floor this morning now!
DeleteI'm seriously struggling to wake up for college at 6 on a daily basis at the moment and I think I'll have to put some of these tips into practice tomorrow! I like to go to bed quite early in the evenings but the days seem to fly by if I spend my Saturday morning in bed so I'd much prefer to get up and embrace the day. Thanks for the tips!
ReplyDeleteKatie Huxtable
I know it comes Saturday and then before you know it your weekend is already over!
DeleteAmazing tips! I always get up early even when I can sleep a little more!

DeleteCool tips! I always tend to fool myself into thinking every morning is a productive day where in reality, I probably function almost like a robot xD

DeleteAll these ways are great! I do almost everything the same way to trick myself into being a morning person. I try to drink a glass of water every morning I wake up, eat a good breakfast, getting as much done as I can the night before and so on :) It really helps to deal with tiredness in the early mornings!
ReplyDelete-Leta | The Nerdy Me
It really does and it saves you so much time! x
DeleteThese are all great tips! I'm terrible at being a morning person and I'm often late, but one thing that really helps me is picking what I'm going to wear out the night before. Great post!

DeleteLoved this post so much! "I am an it's time to go and I'm still in my pjs with one eyebrow drawn on kinda girl" - accuracy x 1000, haha legit me! I think I can relate the most to my room being a bombshell after having gotten ready, but I have an early start tomorrow, hair is sorted and about to get up to sort my outfit! Haha, love these tips a lot! :)
ReplyDeleteHope getting back into full-time work is going well for you! :)

It really is honestly me, I envy those who are perfect morning people, I'm glad you enjoyed them! :)
DeleteThank you! Hope your early morning goes okay :)
I've been telling myself I need to be a morning person, so I can get more done during the day. Waking up too late feels like you already lose half the day and you don't get anything done. So these tips are just what I needed, especially #8 :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, hun!

#8 is probably one of the biggest for me as well! I washed my hair extremely late last night and straightened it this morning and it just doesn't look as nice! but before I worked full time mornings were not my friend!
DeleteThese are such nice and simple tips that we should follow every morning but I can get too lazy. Thumbs up for the fluids and breakfast part as I always follow those two steps every morning.
ReplyDeleteChaste & Beautiful
Don't worry I sometimes even get too lazy myself!
DeleteDefinitely going to be giving these a go! I am the worst morning person ever and it seems the earlier I have to get up the later I go to bed!
ReplyDeleteDanielle's Beauty Blog
Don't worry before I worked full time I was exactly the same!
DeleteGreat tips! A routine is important, I agree, as well as a good breakfast. And outfit idea helps too. I will definitely try to use these
ReplyDeleteHttp://Leftbankgirl.blogspot.com
I hope they work well for you! x
DeleteI REALLY need these tips as my bed is becoming far too comfy to leave these days!
ReplyDeleteClaire | Stylingo.co.uk | xx
I am exactly the same when my alarm goes off I snooze it for as long as I can just so I can stay in bed longer! x
Deletethank you :)
ReplyDeleteaw thank you I'm so glad to hear you liked it!
ReplyDeleteI am the world's worst morning person, so I try and do as many of these as I can! The liquids is a big thing for me, if I don't have a glass of water when I get up it's sets me up so badly for the day haha. Great tips :)
